Foxes and Grizzly Bears

fox in Alaska's Katmai National ParkWherever you find grizzly bears you will surely find foxes.  This male fox approached us with his fox friend while we sat down on the driftwood to eat a snack.  They must have smelled our corn nuts.  Foxes like to take advantage of scraps of food like salmon left behind by bears.  They are also accomplished scavengers and hunters.  They dig for clams in the mud flats like the bears, and search through tangles of sea kelp on the beach looking for crabs and seafood.  The grizzly bears seem amicable with most foxes on the coast, ignoring them much like they ignore us humans.  Click here for more fox photos.
