Grizzly Bear Tracks

Brown bear tracksThis photo shows a trail carved by bears.  Bears often step on top of one another’s footprints, carving trails through the meadows and forests where they live.  Scent glands in their paws leave information for other bears to smell and evaluate.  By sniffing a trail like this, a bear could tell for example when another bear walked there, and if that bear was male or female.
